The Longchen Nyingtik Project aims to translate into English the Core Texts of the Longchen Nyingtik (Nyingtik Tsapö)—all the important texts related to the Longchen Nyingtik, a treasure (terma) cycle in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition revealed by Jigme Lingpa in Central Tibet in the eighteenth century.
The project was instigated in 2017 when the need arose for a detailed investigation in order to discover which of the Longchen Nyingtik Core Texts had already been translated. The index, or catalogue of the Shechen Core Texts was then translated and all the existing translations were gathered. The results of this work were published online on the Rigpa Wiki's Longchen Nyingtik Root Volumes page, which has been maintained and continuously updated ever since.
In the summer of 2019, we presented our plan to translate the Core Texts to Shechen Rabjam Rinpoche, the heart son of Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche and one of the main lineage holders of the Longchen Nyingtik. Shechen Rabjam Rinpoche was very supportive of the project; he encouraged us in our endeavours and wrote a beautiful endorsement for the project. Shechen Rabjam Rinpoche also advised us to revisit and re-translate some texts which had been translated a long time ago, to ensure that the terminology remains consistent.
The Longchen Nyingtik Project collaborates with Lotsawa House. All translated texts will be published there.
