Jigme Ngotsar and the Four Jigmes

The Four Jigme’s were Jigme Lingpa's foremost disciples:

  1. Dodrupchen Jigme Trinle Özer of Golok

  2. Jigme Gyalwe Nyugu of Dzachukha

  3. Jigme Ngotsar of Dzachukha

  4. Lopön Jigme Küntröl, or Jigme Kundrol Namgyal of Bhutan

Biographies of the First Dodrupchen Jigme Trinle Özer, Jigme Gyalwe Nyugu, and Jigme Kundrol Namgyal were already available on the Treasury of Lives website, yet Jigme Ngotsar, retrospectively referred to as the First Kilung Rinpoche, was still lacking, and so in collaboration with the Treasury of Lives we have made a biography of Jigme Ngotsar available, which can be viewed here. Currently we are aiding the Fifth and present Dza Kilung Rinpoche to make available the history of the complete Kilung incarnation line, including the history of Kilung Monastery, Tibet.

There is an alternative list of the Four Jigmes that lists the 'Four Jigmes from Kham', where Jigme Kundrol Namgyal from Bhutan is exchanged with Jigme Gocha. That list is as follows:

  1. Dodrupchen Jigme Trinle Özer of Golok

  2. Jigme Gyalwe Nyugu of Dzachukha

  3. Jigme Ngotsar of Dzachukha

  4. Jigme Gocha
