Report April 2022

This month we added two new translations, one authored by Dola Jigme Kalzang and one by Jigme Lingpa himself.

In his Words of the Siddhas: How to Practice the Heart-Essence of the Vast Expanse Dola Jigme Kalzang, who is also the author of the popular text Foolish Babble Clarifying Reality, offers a concise yet complete overview of the entire path according to the Longchen Nyingtik, applicable to monastics and lay tantrikas alike. Using the structure of virtuous beginning, middle and end, he covers the common and uncommon preliminary practices, the generation and perfection phases, and the practices of Trekchö and Tögal.

Our second publication for this month is another text from the Dukngal Rangdrol cycle, the Natural Liberation of Suffering, written by Jigme Lingpa himself at the request of a lama called Rinchen Dorje: a self-initiation called Clarifying the Self-Initiation: An Empowerment of the Great Compassionate One, the Natural Liberation of Suffering.

Finally we want to bring your attention to a very special and elaborate commentary on the guru yoga of the Longchen Nyingtik ngondro composed by the Third Dodrupchen, Jigme Tenpe Nyima and just recently translated by Renée Ford and Adam Pearcey, The Staircase That Leads to Lotus Light, Essential Instructions on Guru Yoga (we played a small part in its translation by offering some assistance). In twelve points, Jigme Tenpé Nyima offers detailed instructions and clarifications on The Wish-Fulfilling Jewel, the outer guru yoga practice from the Longchen Nyingtik cycle. He describes the realm of Lotus Light and its Copper-Coloured Mountain, highlights Guru Rinpoche's qualities, and stresses the importance of concentration, devotion and inspiration.
