Report January 2022

This month we published one new translation, the main commentary on the Natural Liberation of Suffering, Dukngal Rangdrol. It was a sad month as well, with the passing of Kyabjé Dodrupchen Rinpoche, Tubten Trinlé Pal Zangpo aka Jikmé Trinlé Palbar (1927-2022) (see our blog about this).

The Loud Drum of Spring, A Commentary on the Difficult Points of the Ritual of the Great Compassionate One, Natural Liberation of Suffering is one of two commentaries written by Jigme Lingpa himself on the profound Dukngal Rangdrol practice, the very first revelation in the Longchen Nyingtik cycle. Jigme Lingpa gives a word by word explanation of the sādhana, from the refuge up to and including the praise, in a simple and precise manner. He does not comment on the section of the feast offering, since that section was written only later by the First Dodrupchen Jigme Trinle Özer.

The other commentary by Jigme Lingpa on Dukngal Rangdrol is called The 'Pratri' Commentary that Lays Bare the Pith Instructions. Furthermore, there is an extensive commentary or retreat manual by Khenpo Pema Vajra called An Ornament for the Wisdom of the Vidyādharas and a short text on how to do retreat by Jamyang Khyentse Wangpo. The latter two commentaries are nearing completion and will be published in the coming months. The Pratri commentary by Jigme Lingpa is fairly complicated and will be published in future.
