Report November 2023
This month we published two new translations, one brief practice by Jigme Lingpa and one well-known petition by Jigme Trinle Özer.
The first text is Jigme Lingpa’s Meditation and Recitation to Pacify Gyalpo Spirits and Harmful Influences. This short practice of Hayagrīva, which is included among the core texts of the Longchen Nyingtik collection, is intended to pacify gyalpo spirits and harmful influences (dön).
Our second text is a Request for the Fulfilment of Wishes and Entrusting of Activity, written by the First Dodrupchen, Jigme Trinle Özer. This short request for the fulfilment of wishes and entrustment of activity to the protectors of the Longchen Nyingtik is often added to the preliminary torma offerings and recited during dharmapālas practices.
Some of our team are currently in Tso Pema, which was the birthplace of one of the greatest female masters of the Longchen Nyingtik of the last century, Shuksep Lochen Chönyi Zangmo. At Heri hermitage in the Nupri area, Shuksep Lochen Chönyi Zangmo did a three-year retreat in the caves and completed her ngondro training and recitations of the complete Longchen Nyingthig cycle. In this retreat she realized the true nature and sang her realization to her teacher Pema Gyatso (who was a disciple of Shabkar Tsokdruk Rangdrol):
We also would like to inform our readers that a new biography of Khenpo Ngakchung has been published by our friends at Treasury of Lives. Khenpo Ngakchung was one of the most illustrious and realized masters of the 20th century and his writings have become the backbone of the Nyingtik Dzogchen teachings.
