Report September 2020

Thanks again to all our patrons and anyone else who has made contributions to the project or has shown interest in any way. In September, we published 6 new translations.

As part of our efforts to make the Longchen Nyingtik cycle available in English, we also try to make sure that existing translations are edited and published. Once such text is Jigme Lingpa’s Glimpse of the Crucial Points—The Vidyādhara's Manual of Concealed Instructions, which was translated in 2007 by Adam Pearcey based on the oral explanation of Alak Zenkar Rinpoche. This profound text of the Vidyādhara Assembly (Rigdzin Düpa) cycle contains four sets of concealed instructions on 1) the wisdom deity, 2) the mantra, 3) the palanquin (do li) samādhi, and 4) the results of the practice.

Secondly, we published a new translation of Khyentse Wangpo’s Vajra Lute, a brief fulfilment practice that also belongs to the Vidyādhara Assembly cycle.

On the request of some students of Khenpo Sodargye, we translated a compilation of Transference: Enlightenment Without Meditation. This compilation, which supplements the root text of the transference (phowa) practice from the Heart-Essence of the Vast Expanse, is extracted from Patrul Rinpoche's famous Words of My Perfect Teacher.

As was explained in our recent blog Supplementary texts in sādhana practice, we are committed to publishing all the supplementary practices needed to practice the Longchen Nyingtik. This month we published:

Also check out our biography of Jigme Ngotsar on the Treasury of Lives, as mentioned in our blog on Jigme Ngotsar and the Four Jigmes, Jigme Lingpa’s foremost disciples. In the coming months some of us will be collaborating with Kilung Rinpoche to translate a text on the history of Kilung monastery (founded by Jigme Ngotsar, the First Kilung Rinpoche) and its successive line of incarnations.

Finally, it deserves mention that Lotsawa House has a nice new function on the homepage that features the latest additions of the Jamyang Khyentse Chökyi Lodrö Sungbum Project and the Longchen Nyingtik Project.
