Report June 2021
This month we published two new translations. Both texts were composed by Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche.
The first new translation is A Sādhana of Tārā Sarasvatī. This daily practice of Tārā Sarasvatī belongs to the Inner Female Practice (Yumka Nangdrub) of the Heart Essence of the Vast Expanse, A Treasure Vase Containing the Essence of Great Bliss, through which all enlightened activities are carried out based on the Twenty-One Tārās.
To bring all beings, as vast as space in number,
To supreme, unsurpassable awakening,
I shall meditate on noble Sarasvatī.
The second text for this month is Beautiful Clouds of Blessings: A Prayer to the Lineage Masters of the Heart Essence of the Vast Expanse from the Great Perfection. Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche added several verses to an original prayer composed by one of Jigme Lingpa's direct disciples, in order to complete the list of lineage masters—from whom, as he says, he received great kindness—up to and including to himself. It is only the second from all the additional texts that had been added by Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche to the Longchen Nyingtik Core Texts, found in volumes 4 and 5.
During the anniversary of Nyoshul Lungtok (1829-1901), one of the greatest Dzogchen masters of the Heart Essence of the Vast Expanse or Longchen Nyingtik, we paid our respects by reminding us of the famous story of how Patrul Rinpoche introduced him to the nature of mind on our blog.
སྲིད་ལས་ངེས་འབྱུང་སྔོན་འགྲོའི་ལམ་མཐར་སོན། །
May I perfect the path of the preliminaries by renouncing existence,
གཞན་ཕན་བློ་ཡི་ཐེག་ཆེན་ལམ་རྩ་ཚུགས། །
Establish the foundation of the Great Vehicle through altruism,
བསགས་དང་སྦྱངས་བས་རྒྱུད་དག་ཁྱད་པར་དུ། །
Cleanse my mind by means of accumulation and purification
མོས་གུས་མཐར་ཕྱིན་ཐུགས་ཡིད་གཅིག་འདྲེས་ཤོག། །
And, with consummate devotion in particular, cause my mind and the guru’s wisdom to merge as one.
